Atlantic City has an excellent location for boat shows and powerboat racing. Boat shows usually happen in the Gardner basin by the Golden Nugget casino. Borgata and Harrah’s casinos are close by. These three casinos in the Gardner basin are still open and are doing quite well. The casinos on the boardwalk are less successful, and only a few remain open – Tropicana, Ballys, Ceasars, and Resorts.

The basin is connected to the ocean by Absecon inlet bearing the same name as the famous lighthouse. Powerboats usually race close to the beach between the Steel Pier and Arcade Pier. It is great fun to watch these fast boats. Miss Geico racing boats claim to reach over 200mph.
