Located in the gorgeous city of Glendale in the state of California in the United States, DreamWorks Animation is one of the leading animation studios in America. The company has two primary sites, the original feature animation studio in Glendale and the PDI studio located in Redwood City, both in California. This studio now belongs to NBC but Fox still owns rights to several animated movies, television shows, and online virtual worlds. Starting off by releasing animated films on serious themes like Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, The Prince of Egypt, this studio currently emphasizes a lot on humorous and satirical films.
Director and producer Steven Spielberg, music executive David Geffen, and Jeffrey Katzenberg, who used to be a Disney executive, founded DreamWorks SKG in the year 1994. Later in the year 2006, this studio was sold to Paramount Pictures, which is another major film studio of Viacom. When Geffen left the company in 2008, he brought in Anil Ambani, chairperson of The Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group as the financial partner of DreamWorks. This studio markets and distributed movies in collaborations with The Walt Disney Studios.
DreamWorks Animation Studio has churned out many animated feature films. Some of the most popular animated movies released by this studio are series of Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, The Prince of Egypt, How to Train Your Dragon, Madagascar, The Road to El Dorado, Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas, Joseph: King of Dreams, to name a few.
